CAMPAIGN BIG AWARDS - Campaign Of The Year Grand Prix

Campaign Against Living Miserably is using the last photos and videos of people who have taken their life as part of a campaign that aims to dismantle a misunderstanding of what suicidal looks like. 

The campaign has been revealed on ITV's This Morning in a tie-up with the broadcaster.

Radford Music sourced and licensed the well known song “Bring Me Sunshine” and produced and re-recorded a powerful new cover version of the song.

James Radford, Radford Music “We wanted to find a song that traditionally has always been a ‘happy’ song with lyrics that matched the message of the powerful campaign. Lyrics that mention the warmth of a smile but in reality, hidden behind the smile can be incredible pain. Working closely with the agency we decided to record a solo vocal version that provides a hauntingly powerful and poignant soundtrack to the heart breaking videos of the families.”

A full length version of the song is currently in production and will be released as a charity single with streaming and download profits going to CALM. 

The work by Adam & Eve/DDB is the biggest campaign from CALM to date and aims to equip the nation with tips on how to have difficult conversations with their peers.

"The last photo" launched on Monday as an unbranded exhibition on London's Southbank with 50 six-and-a-half-feet-high smiling portraits showing people living a carefree life.

The installation is supported by a 90-second TV ad that shows people living happy lives, playing with their children, enjoying a day out at the beach or laughing with friends. At the end, the titles reveal that these are all last videos of people who took their lives.

James Radford was honoured to have been asked to work on the superb new Guinness TV Commercial for the Guinness Rugby Six Nations Tournament 2019.

James was delighted to source and place the fantastic track ‘Jungle Fever’ by The Tornados while doing a music search for AMV BBDO.

‘Jungle Fever’ was the B-Side to ‘Telstar’ by The Tornados who were the first British Band to have a no.1 single in the US (two years before The Beatles in 1964). The record was no.1 in the US and the UK simultaneously in 1962.

Music - Cari Cari ‘ANAANA’

James Radford is extremely honoured to have been asked to work on the new Guinness ‘Liberty Fields’ TV Commercial for the Rugby World Cup 2019.

James was very excited to discover the brand new music track ‘ANAANA’ by up and coming band Cari Cari while doing a creative music search for AMV BBDO.

Radford Music negotiated an exclusive license with the record label and music publisher on behalf of Guinness and AMV BBDO.

James worked very closely with the band and the agency and created a bespoke composition and soundscape for the opening scenes of the commercial. Later in the film the full ‘ANAANA’ track bursts into life with its hard hitting guitar based riff and striking vocal.

Cari Cari have filmed a new music video for the track to coincide with the launch of the Guinness campaign.

Radford Music are delighted to add ‘Liberty Fields’ to their portfolio of no less than four stunning Guinness commercials for which they have supplied creative music searches.

Music - ‘Lighting Up Christmas’

Radford Music are extremely proud to have provided an original orchestral score for the festive and heart-warming ASDA Christmas Advert 2019 ‘Northern Lights’

The original music ‘Lighting Up Christmas’ composed by Rohan Stevenson and James Radford was recorded by a 60 piece orchestra at Angel Recording Studios.

James worked closely with AMV Creative Directors (Jay Phillips, Neil Clarke) and Producers (Nick Godden, Felicity Bamber) to craft the composition to perfectly match the beautiful visuals and to capture both the excitement and emotion of the 2 minute film. The soundtrack provides the main character Tilly with a musical ‘theme’ and follows the action closely throughout Jack and Tilly’s adventure spreading magic and joy around their town.

The film was directed by Tom Green (Stink Films) and James was delighted to work with Tom again having previously worked together on Guinness ‘The Purse’

ASDA launched the ‘Let’s make Christmas extra special’ campaign on the 2nd November with the debut of the full 2 minute film which will be followed by a series of 60 second and 30 second commercials.
